What is BoredomHub?

The short story?

BoredomHub is a network of servers across multiple games, built to quench your boredom.

But we became so much more.

The Origins of BoredomHub

BoredomHub was founded on July 14th, 2019 as a passion project by Fiery_Hacker (Jpeezy) and Nathaniel.

We originally planned to launch a Minecraft server — but BoredomHub quickly outgrew that vision.

It became a true family passion project, bringing in AmyLynn (Nathaniel’s mom) and Sabandra (Nathaniel’s dad).

Between July 14th and 21st, 2019, we developed and launched our first Rust server.

That server was semi-successful and gave us solid footing. It brought new members into our growing community.

Then, on January 5th, 2020, we officially launched our first DayZ server.

DayZ Shenanigans

Our DayZ Story

DayZ became our biggest success — since sliced bread.

During its peak, we were one of the largest PVE DayZ servers in the U.S.

Players joined us from all over the world, and the community kept growing.

We launched on January 5th, 2020 — and by February 14th, we maxed out our server slots.

BoredomHub thrived. With DayZ alone, our Discord grew to over 500 members.

Between January 2020 and September 2021, we went through BoredomHub V1, V2, and V3.

On January 5th, 2021, we also launched a Deer Isle DayZ server — which was a hit in the community.

But eventually, it became too much. On September 28th, 2021, we shut down our DayZ servers indefinitely. Nathaniel was busy with school, and the project had become too demanding.

Our Other Servers

DayZ wasn’t the only game we explored. We hosted servers for Rust, Minecraft, SCUM, Dead Matter, and Garry’s Mod.

Some of these servers didn’t make it past development. Others launched but faded out quickly.

The truth is, our community was centered around DayZ. That’s what the players wanted, and we leaned into it.

Our Hibernation

After shutting down DayZ in September 2021, BoredomHub went quiet.

We attempted a comeback in 2023 with a Rust server, but it never took off — and we didn’t dedicate enough time to it.

Still, we missed the community. We missed the friends we made along the way.

We knew we wanted to come back. And this time, we wanted to do it right.

During the break, Nathaniel had time to reflect — why had BoredomHub become so overwhelming? How could we fix it?

Originally, BoredomHub was mostly run by Nathaniel, with help from AmyLynn and Sabandra. But it was too much — especially with plans to expand to other games.

So we created a new structure. A real plan. A real goal.

The staff structure plan.

The True Revival

In June 2024, BoredomHub quietly began rebuilding. We restructured the internal team and secretly started working on a new DayZ server.

We wanted it to be a surprise — even our closest staff (@CR3W) didn’t know until about a month before launch.

Then, on September 1st, 2024, BoredomHub’s DayZ server was reborn.

Our Discord was at 300 members. Within a couple of months, we were back at 500.

BoredomHub was back. Fully. Totally. Undeniably back.

Where We're Going Next

BoredomHub isn’t just a nostalgia trip — it's a growing network with a mission.

We’re building servers across multiple games, with the goal of being your go-to community no matter what you play.

DayZ is just the beginning. We're actively expanding into Minecraft, Rust, and other titles our community wants to see.

Our long-term goal? To host a server on every game that needs a good one. And not just any server — one that’s balanced, welcoming, and built around feedback.

We’re restructuring from the ground up: new systems, better moderation, and long-term plans to bring BoredomHub to a wider audience — and eventually, to full-time operation.

This time, we’re not just playing around. This time, we’re building something that lasts.

And we hope you'll be a part of it.
